Permanent Angel Tree Installed At National Orphan Train Complex

Every Christmas you can find Angel Trees around the community that serve to help local children. Through this program, children in need receive gifts and needed items. The National Orphan Train Complex has decided to use this program all year round. They have recently installed a permanent Angel Tree, located at the National Orphan Train Complex. The Angel Tree was established by former board member Kristina Frost to continue to provide assistance to local youth in need. A list of children and needs is available at the National Orphan Train Complex. Anyone wishing to provide support for local youth may visit the Complex during open hours, Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm. The Complex

Cloud County Tourism Director Susie Haver Awarded The Cook Legacy Award

Susie Haver, Cloud County Tourism director, received the 2017 Marian D. Cook Legacy Award on Thursday, February 8th at the Brown Grand Theatre in downtown Concordia. The award was presented prior to Marci Penner and WenDee Rowe's Cook Series event "The Nooks and Crannies of Kansas." Haver is a driving force for the arts and humanities in North Central Kansas. Her passion for Concordia, Cloud County and Kansas has made her a fixture on the area arts and culture scene for decades. For a number of years, Haver was manager of the Brown Grand Theatre, working with booking agents, entertainment promoters, and local and regional artists.
