Movie and Concert Series at the Broadway Plaza

We will be singing and dancing this summer during the 2018 Music and Concert Series at the Broadway Plaza! This marks the second year for the free series, made possible by the City of Concordia and the Community Foundation for Cloud County. Every second and fourth Thursday of the month will feature a movie or band for the community to enjoy for free. Local non-profits will provide concessions during the movies. This year five movies and four bands will perform at the Broadway Plaza, an outdoor event venue located in the heart of downtown Concordia. The movies include; Casablanca, Sister Act, The Lion King, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and Grease. Concerts for this year are; Jake Gil

Victory Day at the POW Camp

Cloud County Tourism is excited to announce that the second annual Victory Day Celebration will take place on April 28, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at POW Camp Concordia. Free tours of the POW Camp Concordia Museum will be available from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. If the weather is cooperating that day, jeep rides will be available to tour the Camp grounds. Guests will enjoy conversing with WWII re-enactors and viewing their personal collections of WWII memorabilia. Delicious German Sausage Soup will be served for lunch at 12 p.m. for $5. Shelby Noel, a student at the Kansas City Art Institute, will be the next artist showcased at the Cloud County Historical Society Museum.

Second 10 for 10 Tour

Cloud County Tourism has begun 10 for 10 Tours this year. The goal is to recruit ten local people for each tour and explore local attractions for $10. Most of the recruits have lived in Cloud County for some time, but have not seen all of the historical attractions yet. The second 10 for $10 Tour took place on March 16, 2018. The group visited the National Orphan Train Complex, where Curator Shaley George spoke about the history of the National Orphan Train Complex and the stories of the orphans. We Kan! Conference

Representatives from Cloud County attended the We Kan! Conference on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at the Meridian Center in Newton, KS. Representatives included; Marian Condray, Duane and Cathy Warkentin, Susie Haver, Shaley George, Sue Sutton, Kathleen Norman, Jori Gilleece, and Jessica Brucken. The We Kan! Conference mixed elements of the Big Rural Brainstorm into an energetic and positive event designed to promote forward-thinking and action for small Kansas communities. The conference was split into a large group, breakout and Speed Meeting sessions.
