DESCRIPTION:Cloud County Historical Society Museum will host Dena Bisnette and Joe Gilliam\, authors of “Images of America: Concordia”\, on Saturday\, Aug. 26 from 9 a.m. until noon for a photo scanning\, during which they will collect images for a new book. \nThe public is invited to bring photos or information to be considered for use in the new book\, which will be called “Concordia: Past And Present” and is scheduled for release in 2025 by Arcadia Publishing. Photos will be scanned at the event and returned to their owners immediately. \n“The last time we did a book about Concordia\, the museum and several other organizations were amazingly helpful to us\, but the most unique images came from the general public\,” Bisnette said. “We were very grateful for the support and extremely encouraged by it.“ \n“The new book will have a different format\, but I believe there are people out there who have photos that may not have been seen in a long time\, or maybe haven’t been seen outside their own families\, and we hope they will want to share them.” \nArcadia Publishing’s Past And Present format is all about places. “Basically\, we’re looking for photos of locations that are either important to the town’s history or are something people will remember seeing or hearing the older folks talk about. For example\, I’m looking for the places my grandparents used to take me to. Lots of the buildings are still around\, but there are different things in them now.” Bisnette explained. “After we get the old photos together\, we’ll go out to the same location and try to get a picture of what’s there now from the exact same angle.” \nA second photo scanning day is planned for the Fall Festival on Sept. 23\, when Bisnette and Gilliam will have a booth on the street with a portable scanner set up. \nThe authors would also welcome suggestions about locations that might be included in the book.
