Chair-ity Auction

Cloud County Tourism hosted the second Chair-ity Auction on Friday, June 1, 2018 at the Broadway Plaza, as part of the 2017 Orphan Train Riders Celebration. Eighteen chairs were decorated by local artists and donated towards the auction, as well as a handmade quilt. All together the auction raised $1,700.

The proceeds will go toward the custom life-size statue of Anna Laura Hill, the Western Placing Agent for the Department of Children's Aid Society and an Orphan Train Rider statue in memory of Audrey Kalivoda, the late Co-Director of Cloud County Convention and Tourism. The young Orphan Train Rider has an exact replication of Audrey's camera around her neck. The statues will be installed in front of the Cloud County Convention and Tourism Office and Cloud County Museum Annex.

The auction was conducted by Dannie Kearn, who donates his services for the cause.

To kick off the Chair-ity Auction a group of volunteers participated in the Chair-ity Parade, consisting of carrying the decorated chairs downtown from the Tourism Office to Wall to Wall Carpet & Interior where they were on display before the auction. Volunteers also offered their help in transporting the chairs the night of to the Broadway Plaza.
