The Kansas Sampler Foundation duo, Marci Penner and WenDee Rowe, hit the road for parts of four years to look in every one of the 626 incorporated towns and cities and in hundreds of other dots on the map and countryside locations to make the second edition of the Kansas Guidebook for Explorers. It contains 4,500 listings including cafés, art galleries, scenic back roads, historic sites and much more. It’s a guide for the explorer, the curious, the hungry, and for those who love Kansas.

The contests were based on the 8 Rural Culture Elements originated by the Kansas Sampler Foundation; Architecture, Art, Commerce, Cuisine, Customs, Geography, History and People. The guidebook contains beautiful photographs and detailed information as well as a state fold-out map can help you plan “cluster trips” in specific geographical regions of Kansas.
