Cloud County awaits!

So much more than wide open spaces! From historical attractions, cute places to shop, and great food, Cloud County has a lot to offer! Founded March 27, 1867, Cloud County gets its name from Colonel William F. Cloud, an officer in the Union Army during the Civil War. With a population of a little over 9,000 people and an area of 716 sq. mi., Cloud County is home to the incorporated towns of Concordia (the county seat and most populous city), Clyde (the oldest town in Cloud County), Jamestown, Aurora, Glasco, and Miltonvale.

Rolling hills and lush farmland make a lovely background to our stunning Kansas sunsets. Adding to the beauty of the land, two Kansas rivers flow through Cloud County, the Republican River and the Solomon River. Jamestown Lake and Wildlife Preserve is located in the northwest corner of the county. Cloud County is exactly how you’d picture Kansas to be with waving fields of grain, stars shining brightly in the night sky, and sunsets that take your breath away. It’s not uncommon to spot graceful deer along the tree lines or a box turtle trying to make its way across a blacktop road. Tall cottonwood trees, birds flying across a blue, cloud speckled sky, and people who make you feel like old friends make Cloud County the perfect place to call home.
